My flatmate and I recently had our letting agent ask for a 30% rent increase on our London flat. Negotiating with them was hard given that there's a huge information gap: agents see rents across their whole portfolio and agreed deals, while tenants see a handful of listings whose asking prices may or may not reflect what people actually pay.
